Member Update: Dr. Amy Fowler Murphy Takes New Position In Alabama

On September 1, 2017, NSELA member Dr. Amy Fowler Murphy started a new job with Jefferson County Schools in Alabama.
“Jefferson County Schools is the second-largest school district in Alabama serving over 36,000 students in 56 different schools,” she writes. “I am supporting all science teachers in the 26 middle and high schools in the district.”

At no time in our country’s history has science education been more important than it is today. Science education leaders must navigate a shifting landscape all while owning the responsibility of implementing positive changes in their field.
The Leadership Strands for the 2018 Leadership Summit and additional professional development series are designed to equip science leaders with the tools and resources to tackle the grand challenges in leading effective science education in an ever-changing system.

It is time for nominations for the 2018 NSELA elections! Positions open for the 2018 election are:
- President Elect - One Year Term prior to Presidency
- Secretary - Three Year Term
- Treasurer (Special Election) - Indefinite Term
- Region D Director: TX, OK, NM, AZ, UT, CO and all of Canada and Latin America - Three Year Term
- Region F Director: CA, NV, HI, OR, WA, AK, ID, MT, WY and all other international members - Three Year Term
Nominees must submit their Nomination Packets online no later than November 30, 2017. Information needed: Your name, email, home address, main phone number, position sought, biographical data (up to 200 words), position statement (up to 200 words), and resume, vitae or CV (file upload). Letters of endorsement (3-5 total) must also be submitted no later than November 30, 2017. It may be helpful to also review the job descriptions for all positions.
