We have a few positions open for the NSELA Board of Directors. Elections will take place at the beginning of 2021 and those elected will begin their term in June 2021. Positions open for the 2021 election are:

  • President-Elect
  • Secretary - Three Year Term
  • Region D Director - TX, OK, NM, AZ, UT, CO and all of Canada and Latin America (must live or work in one of these) - Three Year Term
  • Region F Director - CA, NV, HI, OR, WA, AK, ID, MT, WY and all other international members (must live or work in one of these) - Three Year Term
  • Region B DirectorDE, MD, DC, MI, OH, IN, KY, WV and VA (must live or work in one of these) - Two Year Term

NSELA NOMINATION APPLICATION GUIDELINES FOR 2021 ELECTION

Nominations have closed for 2021.
 
All materials from the nominee will be submitted at the same time and must include the following items: your name, email, home address, main phone number, position sought, biographical data (up to 1500 characters), position statement (up to 1500 characters), and resume, vitae or CV (file upload). 

  1. Biographical Data — Biographical data is limited to 1500 characters (about 200-250 words); Be sure to prepare your biographical data as you want it presented in the ballot material. It should include the following:
    • Current Employment Information and Degrees Received: List your name; title of current position; current employer, including city and state and years of employment (i.e. 1995-Present); and Degrees (i.e., AB in Biology, Indiana University, Bloomington, IN, 1976).
    • NSELA Activities: List NSELA involvement such as committees and NSELA publications, both past and present. Where applicable, list year(s). 
    • Additional Activities and Honors: List chronology of professional and teaching experience (include city, state, and year of each experience) and state and local science involvement (past and present). List other professional activities (include other associations you belong to, professional development activities, and other activities) and special honors and awards (list name of honor/award, honor/award sponsor, and year received).
  2. Position Statement — Prepare your position statement as you want it presented in the ballot material. It should addresses your philosophy of science teaching, the role and responsibility of NSELA in the profession, and/or other beliefs regarding science, technology, science leadership, or science education. You are required to indicate your envisioned actions as relevant to the office for which you are seeking nomination. Proofread the position statement carefully. Limit 1500 characters (about 200-250 words).
  3. Resume/Vitae/CV — Nominees will also include a Resume/Vitae/CV. It must not exceed the equivalent of five single-spaced pages with 1” margins and at least 12pt. font.
  4. Letters of Endorsement (3-5 total) must be submitted online. A minimum of three letters is required, and up to a maximum of five is permitted. One must be from the nominee’s supervisor. These letters may be from NSELA members or nonmembers. The nomination letter (if any) will count as one of the five letters. These letters should address the nominee’s leadership qualities as well as the nominee’s involvement in science education. The letter from the supervisor should indicate the supervisor’s willingness to support the nominee’s attendance at required meetings of this position. NSELA will not solicit letters of endorsement; this is the nominee’s responsibility.
