Elected position, one-year term
Major function or purpose of office:
Serves as leader of the National Science Education Leadership Association.
Other Duties:
Chairs the Executive Board of the Association as a voting member.
Serves as an ex-officio member of all NSELA committees.
Serves as a member of the NSTA Supervision and Coordination Committee.
Attends or designates someone to attend events sponsored or co-sponsored by the Association such as area conventions, regional workshops, conferences, and judging of competitions.
Assists the Newsletter editor and publisher in arranging for a non-profit mailing permit in the locale where the newsletter and directory will be published.
Supervises the publication of the Newsletter and directory and provides articles and/or input as is necessary.
Makes appointments of committee chairpersons, as needed, to the following committees: Membership, Newsletter, Awards, Publications, Nominations and Elections, Long-Range Planning, Public Relations, Policy, Position Papers, and Affiliates.
Informs members of the Executive Committee and chairpersons of committees of the work of the Association through interim reports, memoranda, and communications.
Collaborates with the Treasurer to monitor Association revenues and expenses.
Serves as a representative or appoints a representative to the NSTA Board of Directors and meets all responsibilities of the position.
Serves as liaison to corporations and business enterprises that co-sponsor science leadership awards, functions, and institutes.
Acts as the Association spokesman in response to science leadership inquiries from federal, state, and local governmental agencies, the media, and other interested parties.
Conducts other duties as outlined in the Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws of the Association.

Serve as Ex-Officio in the absence of the President.
Other Duties:
Serves as a voting member of the Executive Board.
Serves as an ex-officio member of all NSELA committees.
Serves on the Awards Committee for the selection of the Outstanding Administrative Support Award (OASA) and the Outstanding Leadership in Science Education (OLISE) Award.
Represents the NSELA President at area conventions, regional workshops and conferences as directed by the President.
Collaborates with the President on NSELA matters as determined by the President.
Assumes the NSELA presidency at the annual business meeting at the end of the term as President-Elect.
Conducts duties as outlined in the Articles of incorporation and/or the Bylaws of NSELA.
Appoints committee chairpersons prior to taking office at the National Convention.
Serves as the appointee of the President on the NMSTA Committee on Supervision.
Notifies all nominees to the Executive Board of yearly election results.
Provides continuity to the leadership of NSELA.

Major function or purpose of office:
To provide experienced leadership to NSELA. Represents NSELA at the direction of the President and promotes NSELA.
Other Duties:
Advises President, President Elect, and Executive Director on policy matters.
Represents NSELA at area conventions, regional workshops and conferences as requested by the President.
Participates in grant writing process as requested by the President.
Serves as a consultant for NSELA.
Provides continuity for NSELA.
Serves as a voting member of the Executive Board.
Submits articles to The Navigator (newsletter) and proofs the newsletter prior to publication.
Participates in the selection of NSELA program presentations for the NSTA regional and national conventions.
Serves as a voting member of the Executive Board.
Attends fall and spring board meetings.
Submits quarterly reports to the secretary summarizing NSELA-related activities.
Submits articles to the NSELA newsletter (The Navigator) and proofs the newsletter prior to publication.

Secretary:
Elected or appointed & length:
Elected position, three-year term
Major function or purpose of office:
Prepares and distributes minutes of Executive Board meetings; collects, copies and distributes quarterly reports.
Other Duties:
Serves as a voting member of the Executive Board.
Takes minutes at all board meetings and the annual membership business meeting.
Prepares and solicits changes of minutes to all members of the Executive Board and completes the minutes no later than 30 days after a meeting.
Prepares and distributes corrected minutes to the Executive Board no later than 60 days after the meeting.
Prepares a Minutes Summary for inclusion in The Navigator in the issue following the meetings.
Completes other memos/communiquÈs as directed by the President and/or Executive Board.
Conducts duties as outlined in the Articles of Incorporation and the Bylaws of NSELA.
Maintains a bound edition of all approved minutes on a yearly basis.
Collects, copies and distributes the quarterly reports of the Executive Board.
Assists the President in preparing the Board Book for the Executive Board Meeting held during the NSTA Annual Convention.

Treasurer:
Elected or appointed & length:
Elected position, three-year term
Major function or purpose of office:
Maintains the Association checkbook and pays the bills of the Association.
Other Duties:
Serves as a voting member of the Executive Board.
Receives all Association dues and other income and completes necessary banking procedures.
Maintains an accounting of all income and expenses of the Association.
Pays all authorized bills presented to the Association.
Conducts any other duties as outlined in the Articles of Incorporation and the Bylaws of NSELA.
Assists the President in preparing the Board Book for the Executive Board Meeting held during the NSTA Annual Convention.

District Director:

Elected position, three-year term
Major function or purpose of office:
Represents the science leaders of a region of the country at the NSELA Executive Board meetings.
Other Duties:
Serves as a voting member of the Executive Board.
Provides leadership at the regional level as a member of the Executive Board.
Works with local supervisors, state science supervisors, and science teacher associations it their region.
Encourages and assists the formation of state and local supervisor and science teacher association conferences and workshops.
Represents the Association at local, regional, and state science supervisor and teacher association conferences and workshops.
Assists the Association program chairpersons of area conventions conducted in their region.
Assists the Membership Committee chairperson by recruiting potential members for the Association.
Solicits advertising in Association publications.
Submits reports of activities to the President and Executive Board.
Conducts other duties as directed by the President and/or Executive Board as outlined in the Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws of the Association.
Provides positive leadership and public relations for the Association by presenting papers at science meetings, conducting workshops, and publishing articles
Communicates with members in their region.
Prepares articles about regional activities, awards, and affiliates for the Association Newsletter as directed by the President.
Sends copies of all Association-related correspondence to the Executive Director.
Serves as the liaison to the Association for all affiliates in their region.
Nominates exceptional members for the Outstanding Science Education Leader Award and for leadership positions in the Association.
